Beyond the Surface: Geotechnical Study on Pipeline Integrity

Project Background
Amidst the intricate network of gas distribution, our client faced an unforeseen challenge—soil settlement. In response, a comprehensive geotechnical study, complemented by strain gauge fiber optics, was initiated.

Methodology and Approach
Employing the precision of strain gauge fiber optics, we delved into real-time strain monitoring. Hydrological-geotechnical assessments and rigorous finite element modeling unveiled the intricacies of actual total strain in the pipeline.

Challenges
Implementing cutting-edge strain gauge fiber optics posed complexities, compounded by the stringent standards of SNI 8460:2017. Collaboration with a seasoned third party enriched the project.

Outcome:

  1. Verified compliance with ASME B31.8 standards.
  2. Twelve-month of monitoring ensured pipeline reliability.
  3. Pipe Integrity Management Plan facilitated early interventions.
  4. Mitigation strategies aligned with ground movement surveys.
